Dear People,
This week was by far one of the most jam packed week of miracles so far on my mission and for some reason everything is just going handy dandy. Our district hasn't been having to many baptisms lately and so last Sunday we decided to hold a district fast to help with the work. To make a long story short three days later Elder Meyer and I had four people who have committed to baptism and the two other elders in Minneapolis had four as well. The Spirit was so strong this week and for some reason all of our lessons just went amazing.
One of the coolest miracles that I have seen on my mission so far actually happened on the bus this week. Elder Meyer and I almost always are out of the apartment by 12 because we have all our study and then lunch but for some reason both of us felt like we should hurry and take the 1130 bus downtown which is super weird because our appointment wasn't even close to downtown but we were like "YOLO" so we got on and started riding downtown. A super grumpy looking lady sat down next to me and my first thought was "AHHHHHHH I really just don't feel like trying to talk to her right now." After a few seconds I had this thought that I REALLY needed to talk to her. I started talking to her and after a few minutes she explained how her husband had lung cancer and might be passing away soon and that she really wanted God in her life and she felt like our church was the one that could do that. She then told me how she for some reason caught the 1130 bus this morning even though everyday for 6 months she had been taking the 1200 bus. Then she said she always sat in the back corner of the bus but for some reason (The Spirit) she decided to sit in the front today. She is now meeting with the English missionaries and is progressing really well. It really was the biggest testimony builder to me that the Spirit really leads us to the people we need to see. It was a neat experience.
The other thing that happened this week was with A&E. They are preparing for baptism on March 8 and their legal guardian has already said yes but we wanted to get their biological mom involved with their baptism too so we went over to her house to talk to her about it. And surprise surprise their mom was super deep into shaman culture. Their grandpa was actually a full blooded shaman through and through and so it was a pretty intense lesson. We went in and explained to this mom who had so many hard times in her life why it was important for her kids to be baptized. She has 7 kids no husband and is 30years old. She had her first kid when she was 14 and got into drugs and alcohol. Most of her kids had been given up for adoption and she told us how if her 2 sons started going to church she felt like it might drive their family apart even more. Elder Meyer and I both testified about how our families back home were so blessed by the gospel and that nothing can bring a family closer together than Christ and His gospel. She then accepted and has allowed her two kids to be baptized and is also planning on coming to watch. It was way cool to watch her change and watch the Spirit testify to her that this could save her family.
There's so many other miracles this week too. An atheist came to believe in God in 40 minutes, we taught 7 people who don't speak Hmong or English(they speak Koran), and we watched a single mom who was feeling the weight of the world decide to be baptized and give her life over to God. So basically, miracles are real and they can happen every day if we are willing to do our part and if we have the faith. Love all of you and I hope that you are doing awesome. Sounds like things are going well back in the 801
Love Elder Muaj Zoo
